Our art exhibition (a collaboration between two of my classes (CINE 450: Experimental Animation Project with Professor Ariana Gerstein and CINE 352: Performative Process with Professor Monteith McCollum) as well as with a dance class (THEA 389J: Ballet Mécanique Dance Journey with Lecturer Andrew Horowitz) and music composition students (led by Professor Daniel Thomas Davis) was presented at Spool Contemporary Art Space in Binghamton, NY on May 5th from 7 pm to 9 pm. We celebrated the 100 year anniversary of the Dadaist film “Ballet Mécanique” (1924). The exhibit featured “Ballet Mécanique Reimagined” (2023), a film made in my animation class with Professor Gerstein. It also featured multiple dances performed by the dance class, one of which was accompanied by projections made by a smaller group within my animation class and controlled by me during the performance. My performative process class did a live sound performance to compliment the film. There were multiple other installations as well.
